The Young Adult Friends Development Fund (formerly the Youth Pilgrimage fund) has re-opened, following a period on hold during the pandemic restrictions.
Already in 2023 three young adult Friends (YAFs) from East Africa have had the opportunity to attend Southern Africa Yearly Meeting. In their letter afterwards they said “It was informative and life changing to say the least…It made our days look brighter and blissful.”
A return visit by Southern African Friends to Burundi is planned for October, where they will take part in the Quaker Peace Network Conference.
Some more opportunities, all open for application include:
23-26 March 2023: FWCC Section of the Americas gathering, North Carolina, USA.
4-7 May 2023: FWCC Europe and Middle East Section gathering, Birmingham, UK.
3-14 July 2023: Quaker United Nations Office Summerschool, Geneva, Switzerland.
Some future diary dates include:
5 – 13 August 2024: World Plenary Meeting, Gauteng, South Africa. It is likely this will be preceded by a World Young Friends gathering in Johanesburg.
