Contents list for World Quaker Songbook Published

11 February 2024

The contents of the 2024 World Quaker Songbook have been agreed.

The selection has been made by the worship working group of the 2024 World Plenary Meeting, comprising Friends from South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Britain, the USA and Japan, with further advice from a Friend based in Bolivia. It builds on songbooks published for World Plenary Meetings since at least the 1960s.

Reflecting the likely fluid origins of the words, adapted in different situations, a special version of Every Time I Feel the Spirit, will be published soon, containing additional verses by Friends around the world. We are also looking at songs to mark the 400th birthday of George Fox.

The list also includes a new song, Ubuntu, offered to FWCC  by composer Johanna McBride.

All participants in the World Plenary (including both online and onsite) will receive a copy of the songbook.

Register for the World Plenary Meeting here.
