The live Zoom sessions are every Wednesday at 18:30-20:00 (UK time)
Ever wondered about Friends’ experience around the globe? Their history, their varied kinds of worship, their lives as Quakers? This course brings together Friends from different traditions to understand one another and strengthen our worldwide community.
You will be introduced to a panorama of voices that may challenge, encourage and enthuse your own Quaker journey. Your perspective on Friends will be broadened and stretched. We will learn about current and historical approaches to Quaker faith and witness. We will listen for that of God beyond words and languages, that unites and sustains us in our faith and discover the spirit of Ubuntu: I am because you are.
Each of our four central themes: community, worship, history and experience, will be explored through texts, audio and visual materials. We will share questions for reflection and other response activities in an online forum, plus there will be a 90 minute live zoom session each week. This course coincides with the run-up to the FWCC world plenary gathering in August and will be an excellent preparation for Friends attending, whether in person or online.
(If there is sufficient demand, we may be able to offer an alternative Zoom session each week to suit participants in different time zones. If you would prefer a different time from that stated above, please note this in the Additional Needs section of the booking form to help us assess demand.
Zoom sessions are in any case recorded so that those who are unable to take part can listen at a time that suits them.
