The FWCC World Office acts as data controller when we collect personal data from our staff, volunteers, subscribers and other stakeholders.
We collect this data in the legitimate interests of supporting our work, and for some types of data collection for the performance of a contract. We will also ask for consent for data processing where appropriate. When we ask for personal data we will inform you of how we intend to manage it and what measures we will take to ensure its security.
FWCC aims to be compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This law governs how we may collect, store and use personal data.
The GDPR gives people rights in relation to how organisations process their personal data.
They include (but are not limited to) the right:
(a) to request a copy of any personal data that we hold about them as well as a description of the type of information that we are processing, the uses that are being made of the information, details of anyone to whom their personal data has been disclosed, and how long the data will be stored;
(b) to be told, where any information is not collected from the person directly, any available information as to the source of the information;
(c) to be told of the existence of automated decision-making, if any;
(d) to object to the processing of data where the processing is based on either the conditions of public interest or legitimate interests;
(e) to have all personal data erased (the right to be forgotten) unless certain limited conditions apply;
(f) to restrict processing where the individual has objected to the processing;
(g) to have inaccurate data amended or destroyed;
(h) to prevent processing that is likely to cause unwarranted substantial damage or distress to themselves or anyone else;
(i) to send complaints about our handling of their data to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
If you believe that the Friends World Committee for Consultation World Office holds information about you in our database, you may ask to see a copy by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. If we do hold any of your details, we will send you a copy with information about how to correct any inaccuracies or how to request that any or all data about you is deleted.
